Hey there!
My name is Raymond, though everyone calls me Ray :-) This is the first blog for my website and I’d like to tell you a little bit about me.
After completing my HSC in 2016, I went straight into uni to complete a Bachelor of Music. Music is a very strong part of my life. My two brothers and I have been performing and writing music together now since 2010. It has brought us closer together and created a strong bond between us. We are called the Saba Brothers (we often refer to ourselves as the Australian Jonas Brothers ;-) )
After completing my course, I found myself (like many young people do) lost and unsure about the direction in life that I wanted to take. What job should I have? Is it something I find myself doing for the majority of my life? What if I fail? All these questions I was asking myself was me thinking about how I would look back on my life in the next few decades and beyond. I felt incredibly lost and totally unsure of where to go and what to do. I had my retail job (which I started while at uni) to earn me some income and that is where I was currently at.
Fast forward to 2020, there was a world pandemic happening which completely changed the way we thought about life. People however took the opportunity during quarantine to learn and develop themselves. I myself, apart from writing music and learning new songs (and watching the entire Marvel MCU series), studied a Certificate in Business Management. This was the time in my life where I knew that I wanted to run my own life and my own show. Studying this allowed me to get an overview of the bare minimum of what would be involved in running my own business. From here is where things began to change for me.
I went through a period of self development, which I am still working on everyday, focussing on effective habits and strategies in order to begin to build the foundation of a successful life. The term successful will differ for everyone, though I have defined it for me and my life. I began reading books and started researching and learning about the power of investing and building assets. Everything with a long term plan in mind, which I have started working on from now.
Jump to Nov/Dec 2020, I found a passion for photography, videography and digital media. This is where Boost Ur Biz was born. After studying the Business Management certificate, I knew I wanted to own and run my own business. Having used social media for years for our music, it was something that felt was a natural path to follow. So a quarter into 2021, I began to study a Certificate in Digital Marketing which has catapulted me to where I need to be. At the time of writing this blog (16/06/21) I have been working on Boost Ur Biz every single week, and almost every single day, for over 6 months. I’ve been preparing and developing the business day by day and step by step and have found myself at a point where I have created a laser focus on my niche and the direction I want to take it.
I’ve never loved learning and developing so much than I do now, and it’s something I now carry out daily. Always researching, reading, watching developmental videos, and creating both my short term and long term plan for my life.
I have now found a healthy balance for me in my life for my business, my music and most importantly my family time and down time.
If you have made it this far, I sincerely thank you for taking the time to read this. I encourage anyone who has a dream or a vision to take hold of it and reach for the stars. A concept of thinking I learnt from Chris Helder’s “The Simple Shift”, this is the best time in history to pursue your goals and to live your life the way you want to. No matter what point you are at, start today! It won’t be easy and it won’t happen overnight. It’s something that takes time and determination. Discipline is the key - when you lose the motivation to continue (which everyone will get to at one point or another), it is the discipline that will get you through it and keep you going.
I speak like I’ve figured it all out, though I am certainly far from it. I am at early stages of my goals however I know that I am on the right path and building up the secure foundations that will get me where I hope to be - for myself and my family.
I hope this blog has inspired you to take hold of your life and to set and reach your goals!
